Pingdeng Elementary School

Pingdeng Elementary School was founded in April 1921 at a private tutoring hall ("Hongtan") attached to the Heshenggong Temple, initially named "Caoshan Public School Pingding Branch Classroom." The school passed through an unusually long chain of name and administrative changes across the Japanese colonial period and into the Republic era — at least seven distinct names — before settling on its current name in 1974. Sitting at 413.4 meters elevation in the mountains of Yangmingshan National Park's southeastern zone, near E-wei Mountain, it is one of the highest-altitude schools in the Taipei City public system, and has maintained a small, stable scale of just 6 classes since 1974, reflecting its remote mountain catchment area.

平等國小創立於大正10年（1921年）4月，最初設於合聖宮附設的私塾「鴻潭」，初名「草山公學校平頂分教室」。學校歷經日治與民國時期至少七次更名及行政隸屬變更，於民國63年（1974年）才定名為現名。學校位於陽明山國家公園東南側、海拔413.4公尺處，鄰近鵝尾山，是臺北市公立學校中海拔最高者之一，自1974年以來一直維持6班的小規模，反映其偏遠山區學區的特性。
