Pantao Elementary School opened its doors on August 1, 1999, after a preparatory office was formed that February. It began with 12 classes and 434 students, having split off from neighboring Jianguo Elementary School's catchment as local residential growth pushed enrollment beyond what the existing school could handle. Pantao is one of several Toufen City schools founded in the 1990s to keep pace with the city's rapid expansion.
蟠桃國小於1999年（民國88年）2月成立籌備處，同年8月1日正式開學，初期設有12班、學生434人。學校自鄰近的建國國小學區劃分獨立設校，因應當地人口成長帶來的入學壓力。蟠桃國小是頭份市在1990年代因城市快速擴張而陸續設立的學校之一。
