Ouwang Elementary was founded in 1915, based on its 100th-anniversary celebration held on April 12, 2015, marked with a dedicated commemorative website. The school takes its name from "漚汪" (Ou-ang), the district's older, pre-Qing place name of Siraya-derived origin — predating the Han-Chinese "Jiangjun" (將軍, "General") name that later came into use. The school also houses the "將軍數位機會中心" (Jiangjun Digital Opportunity Center), established in July 2006 to bring internet and computer access to the rural district.
漚汪國小創校於大正4年（1915年），依其於2015年4月12日舉辦的百年校慶推算，並設有專屬的百年校慶紀念網站。校名沿用「漚汪」——這是將軍區在清代「將軍」漢名出現之前、源自西拉雅語的古老地名。學校也設有「將軍數位機會中心」，於民國95年（2006年）7月成立，為偏鄉地區提供網路與電腦資源近用機會。
