National Taiwan University

National Taiwan University (NTU) began in 1928 as Taihoku Imperial University, founded under Japanese colonial rule as the seventh Imperial University of the Japanese Empire, opening with just 59 students in the Faculty of Literature & Politics and the Faculty of Science & Agriculture. Faculties of Medicine and Engineering followed in 1935 and 1943. After the end of Japanese rule in 1945, the university was reorganized by the Republic of China government and renamed National Taiwan University that November, under president Tsung-lo Lo. Over the following decades it grew into a comprehensive university spanning the humanities, sciences, engineering, medicine, law, management, and agriculture, and today it is consistently ranked Taiwan's top university.

國立臺灣大學創立於1928年，前身為日治時期設立的台北帝國大學，是日本帝國第七所帝國大學，創校時僅有59名學生，設有文政學部與理農學部。醫學部與工學部分別於1935年及1943年增設。1945年日本統治結束後，中華民國政府接收並改組學校，同年11月更名為國立臺灣大學，由首任校長羅宗洛主持。歷經數十年發展，臺大已成長為涵蓋人文、理工、醫學、法律、管理與農業等領域的綜合型大學，長年穩居台灣各大學排名之首。
