Pinghe Elementary School was originally established in 1925 (Taisho 14, Japanese colonial era) as a girls' school, making it one of Nantou City's oldest educational institutions — predating much of the county seat's postwar development. Today, over a century later, the school serves about 890 students in 35 classes with 64 teachers, and has evolved into a broadly focused campus with a long-standing emphasis on reading promotion, information technology education, and bilingual education.

平和國小創立於大正14年(1925年)日治時期,最初設立為女子學校,是南投市歷史最悠久的教育機構之一,早於縣治大部分的戰後發展。如今超過一世紀之後,學校約有890名學生,分為35個班級,教師64人,並已發展成為長期重視閱讀推廣、資訊教育及雙語教育的綜合型學校。
