🐦 The Legend Behind the District's Name

「鳥松腳」地名傳說

According to local legend, a large banyan tree near the school was called '鳥榕' because birds fed on its fruit; because the Hoklo pronunciation of 榕 (banyan) resembles 松 (pine), the area came to be known as 鳥松腳 — giving Niaosong District its name. This is presented as local oral tradition, not a verified linguistic fact.

🎨 Specialist Classrooms Across the Curriculum

多元專科教室

The campus today includes dedicated English, computer, art, music, and nature classrooms alongside its library — a long way from its bamboo-and-thatch beginnings.

The banyan tree behind 'Niaosongjiao.'

🐦

Local legend holds that a large banyan tree near the school was called '鳥榕' (Bird Banyan) because birds fed on its fruit — and because the Hoklo pronunciation of 榕 (banyan) resembles 松 (pine), the area became known as 鳥松腳 (Niaosongjiao), giving the whole district its name. This is presented as local oral tradition, not a verified linguistic fact. See the Kaohsiung county page for more on the region.
