A school moved by a reservoir, reborn as a charter school.
Neiweng Elementary began in 1950 as a branch classroom of Minhe Elementary, gaining independence in 1959. Construction of the Renyi Reservoir forced the school to relocate — after years of planning from 1979 to 1985, the campus moved to its current site in 1987. In 2024, Neiweng became the second public-private partnership (KIST) experimental school in Chiayi County, opening a new third-generation campus building that cost nearly NT$100 million. Its motto, "cultivate learning, build confidence and character" (耕讀內甕 自信有品), reflects a strong focus on project-based learning, AI literacy, and environmental and reading education.

🎓 A KIST Charter-Style Transformation
公辦民營實驗學校
In 2024, Neiweng converted into a KIST (公辦民營) experimental education school, becoming the second such public-private partnership school in Chiayi County.
🌊 Built Beside a Reservoir
緊鄰仁義潭水庫
The construction of Renyi Reservoir literally forced the school to relocate in 1987, permanently tying its history to the reservoir's water-resource geography.
🌱 Project-Based, AI-Literate Learning
PBL與AI素養並重
Under the motto "cultivate learning, build confidence and character," the school emphasizes project-based learning, AI literacy, and environmental and reading education.
Life beside Renyi Reservoir.
Located beside Renyi Reservoir (仁義潭) in Fanlu Township's Neiweng area, the school's history is inseparable from the reservoir's construction, which forced the original campus to relocate to its present site. That direct link between the school and the surrounding water-resource geography still shapes how the community understands its own local landscape. See the Chiayi County page for more on the region.
