Neipu Township is the "Hou Dui" (後堆, Rear Pile) of the Liudui confederation, home to the Changli Temple (昌黎祠) — Taiwan's only temple primarily dedicated to Tang-dynasty scholar-official Han Yu, built in the early 1800s and historically the Liudui region's foremost center of Confucian learning, where hired scholars helped produce many imperial-exam degree holders.
