Nanxin Elementary School

Nanxin Elementary traces its history to April 1, 1915, when it began as a branch of Chiayi Public School at Shuiyucuo, becoming independent in 1921 as Shuiyucuo Public School. It was renamed several times through the 20th century — Taibao East National School in 1941, Taibao Township's 2nd National School in 1946, and Nanxin National School in 1947 — before taking its current name, Nanxin Elementary School, in 1968 under the nine-year compulsory education reform. As the second school established in the Taibao area, it is now well over a century old. The school follows a vision it calls '六育涵養、全人南新' — Six Cultivations for Holistic Development, spanning character, agriculture, aesthetics, health, digital literacy, and international perspective — and maintains a dedicated school history room, a music talent class, art programs, and an attached kindergarten with special education services.

南新國小創校可追溯至大正4年（1915年）4月1日，最初為嘉義公學校水虞厝分校，民國10年（1921年）獨立設校，稱水虞厝公學校。其後歷經多次更名：民國30年（1941年）改稱太保東國民學校，民國35年（1946年）改稱太保鄉第二國民學校，民國36年（1947年）改稱南新國民學校，直至民國57年（1968年）九年國教改制後定名為南新國民小學。作為太保地區成立的第二所學校，如今已有百餘年歷史。學校秉持「六育涵養、全人南新」的教育願景，涵蓋德、農、美、體、智（數位）、群（國際視野）六大面向，並設有校史室、音樂才藝班、美術課程，以及附設幼兒園（含特教服務）。
