Nantou Junior High School was founded in 1962 (ROC 51) and renamed in 1968 as part of Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education reform, making it the oldest junior high school established in Nantou City. An art-gifted class was founded in 1984, followed by a sports class in 2015, and the school operates both a career-exploration center and a gifted program. Its long history has made it a foundational institution in the historic Hoklo/Hakka mixed core of the county seat.
南投國中創立於民國51年（1962年），並於民國57年（1968年）九年國教改制時更名，是南投市最早設立的國中。學校於民國73年（1984年）成立美術資優班，並於民國104年（2015年）成立體育班，同時設有生涯探索中心與資優教育方案。悠久的歷史讓它成為縣治歷史悠久的閩客混合核心地帶的重要教育機構。
