Nanrong Junior High School

Nanrong Junior High opened in 1968, initially operating under the name "Keelung Municipal 8th Junior High School" before being formally designated Nanrong Junior High. With its own campus still under construction, the school opened its first classes by borrowing classroom space from nearby Chenggong Junior High, before moving to its permanent site on Nanrong Road in 1969. More than five decades later, in 2020, Nanrong became Keelung's first — and Taiwan's fourth — publicly-run experimental junior high school, a designation that gives it greater flexibility in curriculum and teaching approach.

南榮國中創校於民國57年（1968年），初期以「基隆市立第八國民中學」之名招生。由於自有校舍尚在興建，學校最初借用鄰近成功國中的教室開班上課，於民國58年（1969年）才遷入南榮路現址。五十多年後，民國109年（2020年），南榮國中成為基隆市第一所、全臺第四所公辦公營實驗國民中學，在課程與教學方式上擁有更大的彈性空間。
