A century-long educational lineage.
Nankan Junior High's lineage stretches back to 1924, when it opened as "Nankan Vocational Supplementary School" for graduates of the Nankan-Kengzi and Luzhu public schools, one of the oldest school lines in the district. Under Japanese rule it became an agricultural specialty school in 1932, and in 1959 converted to junior-high status. It briefly grew into a combined junior-senior high in 2000 before splitting into independent junior and senior high schools in 2011, taking its current name in 2014. Today it enrolls roughly 1,400 students across 59 classes.

A living record of Luzhu's transformation.
Nankan Junior High's century-long evolution — from a farm-village vocational school, to an agricultural specialty school, to a full junior high — mirrors Luzhu District's own transition from a rice- and tea-farming township into an industrial and urban suburb of greater Taoyuan. The school sits in Wufu Village, named after Wufu Temple (五福宮), the spiritual and historic anchor of the old Nankan settlement. See the Taoyuan county page for more on the region.
