Nankan Elementary is the oldest school in Luzhu District, founded in 1899 — during the Japanese colonial era's Meiji 32 — inside Wufu Temple (五福宮), as "Nankan Public School." Over more than 120 years of history, it has served as the district's "mother school": Dayuan, Guanyin, Waiseh, Gongpu, and Jinxing Elementary Schools all began as its branch classrooms before becoming independent institutions. The school moved to its present roughly 2.1-hectare campus on June 2, 2001.
南崁國小是蘆竹區歷史最悠久的學校，創校於明治32年（1899年），設立於五福宮內，初名「南崁公學校」。逾120年校史中，學校堪稱蘆竹區的「母校」——大園、觀音、外社、公埔、錦興等多所國小，最初皆是其分教室，後陸續獨立設校。學校於民國90年（2001年）6月2日遷至現址，校地面積約2.1公頃。

Nankan Elementary was founded literally inside Wufu Temple (五福宮), the spiritual anchor of the historic Nankan old settlement — one of Luzhu District's three founding hamlet cores alongside Dazhu and Kengzi. As the direct institutional descendant of that community center, the school stands at the very root of Luzhu's modern school system, from which most other local elementary schools eventually branched off.
