Founded for safety, celebrated for rhythm.

Nanhua Elementary began as a branch of Ji'an Elementary in 1954 and became independent on August 21, 1956. The school was created because children in Nanhua and Ganchang villages had to cross the busy Hua-Dong Highway to reach Ji'an Elementary — a genuine safety concern that justified a school of its own. Decades later, Nanhua has built an unexpected specialty: its African drum ensemble won first place in a 2025 percussion competition, and its students also won first place in Truku-language recitation, a combination that speaks to the school's broad cultural reach.
