From branch campus to district anchor.
Nangang Senior High traces its roots to 1967, when it opened as "臺北縣立汐止中學南港分部" (Taipei County Xizhi Middle School, Nangang Branch). It was renamed "臺北市立南港國民中學" in 1968 when Nangang Township was annexed into Taipei City, and upgraded to a complete secondary school with an attached junior-high division — becoming Nangang Senior High — in July 1999. It is Nangang District's first senior high school; early classes at both the junior- and senior-high level were sex-segregated, a practice the junior-high division ended in 1992.
南港高中的前身可追溯至民國56年（1967年）的「臺北縣立汐止中學南港分部」，民國57年（1968年）因南港鎮併入台北市而更名為「臺北市立南港國民中學」，民國88年（1999年）7月升格為附設國中部的完全中學，正式定名南港高中，成為南港區第一所高中。早期國中部與高中部皆採男女分班制度，國中部於民國81年（1992年）廢除此制度。
