From farmland training grounds to a comprehensive high school.
Founded on April 1, 1939 under Japanese rule as "Tainan Prefecture Agricultural School," this school today occupies nearly 33 hectares — the largest campus of any senior high school in Tainan City, a legacy of its founding as an agricultural school with farmland and livestock training grounds. The campus preserves original Japanese-era dormitory buildings, constructed between 1939 and 1943, which were designated historic architecture in 2009. In 2005 the school discontinued its purely vocational tracks and added general-academic classes, becoming a "comprehensive high school" (綜合高中) that now offers seven specialized tracks — culinary arts, food processing, IT, technical drawing, construction, animal husbandry, and horticulture — alongside a college-prep track. About 1,739 students study across 45 classes, 12 general-academic and 33 comprehensive-track.

🐄 Roots in an Agricultural School
Founded in 1939 as Tainan Prefecture Agricultural School, the school's sprawling grounds still echo its original mission of farmland and livestock training.
A memory of Yongkang's farmland past.
The school's agricultural-school origins and sprawling grounds reflect Yongkang's pre-war identity as farmland and orchard country on Tainan's northern outskirts, before postwar industrialization and suburbanization took over the district. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
