Xihu Junior High began in 1966 as a branch of Wenlin Junior High School, initially using classrooms borrowed from Xihu Elementary School. Two years later, in August 1968, it became a fully independent junior high school in its own right. Today the school continues to serve students from Longdong Village and the surrounding Xihu Township community.
西湖國中創立於民國55年（1966年），最初以文林國中分校形式成立，借用西湖國小的教室上課。民國57年（1968年）8月，學校正式獨立設校。至今持續服務龍洞村及西湖鄉周邊社區的學子。
