Penglai Elementary was founded in 1921 during the Japanese colonial era as the "Hongmaoguan Aboriginal Children's Education Institute." In 2021 the school celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking over 2,500 total graduates across a century of continuous schooling. Today it is a small school of about six classes and roughly 30 elementary students, with approximately 60% of its student body Saisiyat indigenous and the remainder Hakka.
蓬萊國小創立於日治時期大正10年(1921年),創校時名為「紅毛館蕃童教育所」。2021年學校慶祝建校百週年,累計畢業生超過2,502人,見證了一整個世紀的辦學歷程。目前學校規模約6班、30名國小學生,其中約六成為賽夏族原住民,其餘為客家人。
