Built by overseas generosity after disaster.
Huaxing Elementary was built in 1960 with donations from overseas Chinese communities, following the catastrophic 1959 "8/7 Flood" (八七水災) that devastated much of central and southern Taiwan. The school sits at the northernmost tip of Dahu Township, bordering mountainous Taian Township, and is classified as a "non-mountain, non-urban" school type — a small, remote rural elementary school serving a scattered mountain-edge community.
