Gongguan's founding school, still growing after 120 years.

Gongguan Elementary opened in 1901 as "Gongguan Public School," making it the oldest school in the township that shares its name. It celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2021 with a new school building, and today serves about 874 students — the largest enrollment of any school in Gongguan. The school fields a strong Chinese orchestra and music-class program, along with bridge, track-and-field, and basketball teams, and its new campus deliberately echoes the traditional Hakka sanheyuan (three-sided courtyard) architecture of the region.
