Independent since 1975, in a fishing-village district.
Mituo Junior High School became independent in 1975, growing out of a branch campus that Ziguan Junior High had established in Mituo District two years earlier, in 1973. The school's promotional tagline, roughly "Falling in love with learning, growing a fishing village" (「彌」戀學習「陀」展漁鄉), plays on the characters of its own name to link classroom learning with Mituo's coastal, fishing-village identity.
