Keeping shadow-puppet heritage alive.
Mituo Elementary School was founded in 1913, during the Japanese colonial era, giving it over a century of history. Located about 2 km from the western coastline, the school runs its own paper shadow-puppet troupe program, actively teaching the art form as living heritage. Mituo District is nationally known as Taiwan's shadow-puppet-theater heartland ("皮影戲窟"), and the school plays a direct role in keeping that tradition alive for a new generation.
