A junior high built a nationwide reputation on the recorder.
Minzu Junior High School opened in August 1981, taking its name from "Nationalism" (民族主義), one of the Three Principles of the People — echoing the naming logic behind so many schools in Sanmin District, and founded the same year as its elementary-school counterpart, Minzu Elementary. Since 2004, the school has run a self-contained recorder (木笛) music-talent class, reportedly the only program of its kind in Taiwan built entirely around a single instrument.
