Minsyong Elementary was founded on March 13, 1899, as "打貓公學校" (Damao Public School), using the township's old Qing-era name "Damao." It was renamed "民雄公學校" in 1921, "民雄國民學校" in 1941, and finally "民雄國民小學" on August 1, 1968. With over 125 years of continuous history, it is one of the oldest schools in the township, and it celebrated its 100th anniversary with a commemorative publication. Today the school runs an active calligraphy club and Taiwan Mother Language Day programming, offers coding instruction using Scratch, and maintains comprehensive counseling and health-services infrastructure.
民雄國小創立於明治32年（1899年）3月13日，最初名為「打貓公學校」，沿用民雄鄉清代舊名「打貓」。學校於大正10年（1921年）更名為「民雄公學校」，昭和16年（1941年）改為「民雄國民學校」，並於民國57年（1968年）8月1日定名為「民雄國民小學」。校史逾125年，是鄉內歷史最悠久的學校之一，曾出版百年校慶專刊慶祝建校百年。如今學校設有活躍的書法社團及台灣母語日活動，並以Scratch進行程式設計教學，同時建置完整的輔導與健康服務體系。
