A baseball-strong school born of Taiwan's 1968 education reform.
Minsheng Junior High School was established in 1968 as a Chiayi County institution, opening in direct response to Taiwan's new nine-year compulsory education policy. It became a municipal school when Chiayi was elevated to provincial-city status in 1982, and relocated to its current campus on Xinmin Road in 2003 after three years of construction. The school has since earned the Ministry of Education's Character Education Excellence Award and built a name for itself through its baseball program.
民生國中創立於民國57年（1968年），因應九年國民義務教育政策而設立，原屬嘉義縣。民國71年（1982年）嘉義市升格為省轄市後，改隸市立。學校於2003年遷至現今的新民路校區，歷經三年興建。曾獲教育部品德教育特色學校獎，並以棒球運動聞名。
