Minquan Junior High was founded in 1968 by first principal Chen Shuimu, and was built beside the Taipei Bridge (臺北橋) at the edge of Dadaocheng. The school currently runs 29 approved classes: 21 general classes, 4 special-education classes, 3 athletics classes, and 1 learning-resource class, serving the riverside neighborhoods of Datong District.

民權國中創校於民國57年(1968年),首任校長為陳水木,校址緊鄰大稻埕邊緣的臺北橋畔。學校目前核定29班,其中普通班21班、特教班4班、體育班3班、資源班1班,服務大同區沿河一帶的學童。

Generations of merchants once crossed near this spot carrying goods between the two riverbanks, and the bridge remains one of Datong District's defining landmarks.
