From branch campus to independent school.
Minhe Junior High traces back to 1966, when it broke off from Lantan Junior High's Fanlu branch to become an independent school, "Chiayi County Minhe Junior High." In 1968, under Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education reform, it was renamed "Chiayi County Minhe Junior High School," the name it carries today. As of the 2025 school year, the school serves 129 students (105 on the main campus across 9 classes, plus 24 at a branch campus across 3 classes) with a faculty of 56.
民和國中前身為嘉義縣立蘭潭初級中學番路分部，民國55年（1966年）獨立設校為「嘉義縣立民和初級中學」；民國57年（1968年）因應九年國教改制，更名為「嘉義縣立民和國民中學」，沿用至今。114學年度，全校共129位學生（本校105人、9班；分校24人、3班），教職員56人。

The persimmon harvest and the temple-pilgrimage traffic heading up the mountain road toward Alishan are both woven into daily life around the school, tying its identity firmly to Fanlu Township's rural, mountain-foothill character.
