Named for the hall beside the Confucius Temple.
Minglun opened in 1968 as Taipei Municipal Minglun Junior High School, founded under a first principal, and was reorganized into a senior high in 1993, when it stopped admitting junior-high students. Its name, "明倫" ("enlightening relationships"), is taken from "明倫堂," the type of hall traditionally built beside Confucius Temples — chosen because of the school's proximity to the Taipei Confucius Temple. The school opened a special-education class in its early years and, around 1981, added a gifted fine-arts program that remains its signature feature today, with five studio classrooms, three academic classrooms, and both a small and a large exhibition space; its graduates regularly place in the top three of Taipei's student art competitions and go on to art-related university departments.

In the shadow of the Confucius Temple.
Minglun's name and site are directly tied to the historic Taipei Confucius Temple in Dalongdong, one of Datong District's defining cultural landmarks. The temple's ceremonial halls and courtyards, still used for annual rites honoring Confucius, sit within easy walking distance of campus — a daily reminder of the neighborhood's role as one of Taipei's oldest centers of learning.
