Minghua Junior High School was founded in 2001. It borrowed classroom space from nearby Dayi Junior High School in 2003 for its first intake of students, before its own phase-one buildings opened in 2004 and phase-two buildings followed in 2006. With about 1,703 students, Minghua is large for a junior high, and its campus includes an underground three-story activity center. The school was built specifically to serve the rapidly developed Art Museum and Mingcheng residential district in Gushan.
明華國中創立於民國90年（2001年）。2003年首屆招生時，暫借鄰近大義國中校舍上課，第一期校舍於2004年完工，第二期則於2006年完工。學校目前約有1,703名學生，規模在國中中屬偏大型，校園並設有地下三層活動中心。明華國中的興建，正是為了服務鼓山區快速發展的美術館與明誠特區。
