Rebuilt from wartime ruins into a modern junior high.
Mingde Junior High School was originally established in 1939 next to a hillside bordering the Keelung River. Its school buildings were destroyed by wartime bombing in May 1945, forcing classes to be suspended. The school reopened in July 1947 as the coeducational "Keelung Municipal Girls' Middle School," and was reorganized into its current junior-high form in 1968. Today it continues to serve the Qidu District community from its riverside campus.

🏞️ A Riverside Campus
基隆河畔校園
The school sits on a hillside bordering the Keelung River, a setting it has kept since its founding in 1939, distinguishing Qidu's rail-and-river geography from Keelung's coastal harbor districts.
🕊️ Rebuilt After Wartime Loss
戰後重建的歷史
After its original buildings were destroyed by bombing in May 1945, the school was rebuilt and reopened in 1947 — a history of resilience shared by many schools of its generation in Taiwan.
📜 Nearly a Century of History
近百年校史
Founded in 1939 and reorganized into today's junior high in 1968, the school carries over eight decades of educational history in the Qidu community.
Qidu, shaped by river and rail rather than harbor.
Located beside the Keelung River in Qidu District, the school sits in a community defined more by rail and river transport history than by the coastal harbor that shapes central Keelung. See the Keelung county page for more on the region.
