Mingchuan Elementary was founded in 1954 and named in honor of Liu Ming-chuan, the Qing-dynasty general and pioneer of Taiwan's modernization. The school sits directly beside National Taiwan University's main campus, across from MRT Gongguan Station and the Shuiyuan Market. Enrollment once reached 65 classes and over 3,000 students in 1986; today the school, including its kindergarten, has roughly 700 students.
銘傳國小創立於民國43年（1954年），校名取自清代台灣近代化推手劉銘傳將軍以資紀念。校址緊鄰國立台灣大學校總區，正對捷運公館站與水源市場。學生人數曾於1986年達到65班、逾3,000人的高峰，如今含幼兒園在內約有700名學生。
