Mingchi Elementary School

Mingchi Elementary is one of the four original "Ming-" schools of downtown Hualien City, tracing its roots to the Japanese colonial era. The school's motto, "Health, Wisdom, Joy," is reflected in a busy roster of extracurricular groups, including a wind orchestra, a computer science team, an orchestra, and a tennis team, alongside a morning English program that gives students regular exposure to the language before the school day even begins. In 1956, Mingchi also served as the original host campus for what became Fuxing Elementary, taking in the school's first "Dachen branch" for refugee students from the Dachen Islands.

明恥國小是花蓮市區歷史最悠久的「明」字輩四校之一，創校可追溯至日治時期。學校校訓「健康、智慧、快樂」，反映在豐富的社團活動中，包括管樂團、資訊科技團隊、管弦樂團與網球隊，並設有晨間英語課程，讓學生在正式上課前就能接觸英語。1956年，明恥國小也曾作為復興國小前身「大陳分校」的最初收容校區，安置來自大陳島的義胞子弟。
