Miaoli Junior High School was founded in 1956 on Muduo Mountain in Miaoli City, the county seat. Over the decades it has built a strong athletics tradition: the school established a competitive sports class in 2000 and a school baseball team in 2012, later building the county's first indoor school baseball practice facility. Its track and field team has also achieved nationally competitive results, making Miaoli Junior High a source of civic pride in sports.
苗栗國中創立於民國45年（1956年），校址位於苗栗市木鐸山。多年來學校建立起深厚的體育傳統：民國89年（2000年）成立體育班，民國101年（2012年）成立校棒球隊，其後更興建全縣首座室內棒球練習場。田徑隊也屢創全國佳績，成為苗栗市民引以為傲的體育代表。
