A century of "love," "learning," and Atayal spirit.
Meihua Elementary has stood in Meihua Village for over a century, founded in 1917 during the Japanese colonial era. Today it is a tiny school — just six classes and about 52 students, all of them Atayal Indigenous — guided by a motto built around "love," "learning," and "Atayal spirit." Its curriculum leans into that identity directly, with a distinctive program in traditional Atayal bamboo-wood xylophone performance alongside children's fine arts instruction.
