Madou Elementary School is the oldest school in Madou District, founded in June 1898 as a satellite classroom of the Chiayi Mandarin Training Institute (嘉義國語傳習所蔴荳分教場), located inside the Wenchang Shrine (文昌祠) of Dongjiao Village. It became "Madou Public School" in October 1898; a separate Madou Girls' Public School was established alongside it in 1921; and it was renamed "Madou North National School" in 1941. Over 125 years old, it is the anchor school from which several later Madou-area elementary schools trace their institutional lineage as branch campuses.

麻豆國小是麻豆區歷史最悠久的學校,創立於明治31年(1898年)6月,最初為嘉義國語傳習所蔴荳分教場,設於東角里文昌祠內。同年10月改為「蔴荳公學校」;1921年另設麻豆女子公學校;1941年改名「麻豆北國民學校」。學校已有超過125年歷史,是麻豆地區多所後來設立的國小共同的校史源頭,這些學校最初都曾是麻豆國小的分校。
