Luye Junior High opened in 1968 as part of Taiwan's nationwide rollout of nine-year compulsory education. The school has since been designated an "Indigenous Focus School" — as of 2018, 64% of its students identified as Indigenous, mostly Amis and Bunun. Its campus sits between the Xinwuluxi River and Hongye Valley, commanding views of both the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range. The school is also known for a well-regarded indigenous choir.
鹿野國中創立於民國57年(1968年),是台灣推行九年國民義務教育政策下的產物。學校已被列為「原住民重點學校」,截至2018年,64%的學生具原住民身分,以阿美族與布農族為主。校園座落於鹿野溪與紅葉溪谷之間,可遠眺中央山脈與海岸山脈。學校亦以優秀的原住民合唱團聞名。
