Luona (Rona) Elementary School

Luona Elementary School, known also as Rona, holds the distinction of being the earliest-established school in Xinyi Township. It began in 1906 under Japanese colonial rule as the "Nanzijiaowan Education Institute," originally located at the nearby Jiumei tribal village before relocating in 1935 and finally being renamed Luona Elementary in 1953. As the school celebrates its 120th anniversary in 2026, Nantou County's government is investing nearly NT$100 million to rebuild the school's Huayu Building — a major commitment to a school that has quietly shaped the Bunun Luona tribal community across four generations, alongside its long-running volleyball team and choir programs.

羅娜國小是信義鄉最早設立的學校。學校創立於1906年（明治39年），日治時期名為「南仔腳蔓教育所」，原址位於鄰近的久美部落，1935年（昭和10年）遷址，1953年正式定名為羅娜國小。適逢2026年建校120週年，南投縣政府投入近新台幣一億元重建學校的樺鬱樓——這是對一所默默培育羅娜布農部落四代學子的學校的重大投資，該校也長期經營排球隊與合唱團等特色活動。
