Luodong Elementary traces its roots to 1898, when it opened during the Japanese colonial era as the "Yilan Mandarin Training Institute Luodong Branch." The school relocated to its current site in 1907 and is now recognized as one of Yilan County's official "century-old schools." In 2020, it completed a colorful "dream playground" renovation, and it maintains sister-school partnerships with schools in Japan, established in 2007, and Sweden, established in 2019.
羅東國小創校歷史可追溯至日治時期民國前14年（1898年），初名「宜蘭國語傳習所羅東分教場」。學校於民國前5年（1907年）遷至現址，如今是宜蘭縣官方認定的「百年老校」之一。民國109年（2020年）完成色彩繽紛的「夢想遊樂場」改建工程，並分別於民國96年（2007年）與民國108年（2019年）與日本及瑞典的學校締結姊妹校關係。
