A tiny school keeping tradition alive.
Xiufeng Elementary School began in 1946 as a branch campus before becoming independent in 1952. It is a very small rural school serving Xiufeng, Qingshui, and Yonglong villages in Lugu Township, Nantou County, with its campus backing onto Baishiya Mountain and the Qingshuigou stream running in front. Xiufeng has become known for a food-and-agriculture education program that revives Lugu's traditional "jiangsun" (醬筍) pickled bamboo-shoot craft, connecting students directly to a fading local culinary tradition.
