Fenghuang Elementary School was originally known as Dashuiku National School before being renamed Fenghuang National School in February 1947. From 1966 to 2006, the school operated a branch campus in nearby Longtian, which was discontinued as the rural population declined. Today the school sits near the Fenghuang Valley Bird Park and the Fenghuang Nature Education Area, two well-known destinations in the Lugu area.
鳳凰國小前身為大水堀國民學校，於民國36年（1947年）2月更名為鳳凰國民學校。學校曾於民國55年至95年（1966年至2006年）間設有龍田分校，後因鄉村人口減少而裁撤。如今學校鄰近鳳凰谷鳥園與鳳凰自然教育園區，皆為鹿谷地區知名景點。
