A century of history, rebuilt in tradition.

Lugu Elementary School was founded in 1910, during the Japanese colonial era, as a branch campus of what is now Zhushan Elementary School. It became independent in 1921 and took its current name in 1968. The school celebrated its centennial around 2017. Its campus was severely damaged in the catastrophic 1999 921 earthquake and was rebuilt with support from the Tzu Chi Foundation, completed in December 2001 in a traditional courtyard (三合院) style. Today Lugu Elementary offers traditional Chinese orchestra and tea-arts (茶藝) club programs, reflecting both its long heritage and its place in Taiwan's premier tea-growing township.
