Lucao Elementary School

Lucao Elementary was established on April 10, 1909, during the Japanese colonial era, as Lokazo Public School — one of the oldest schools in the township. It was renamed Lucao Public School in 1921, became Lucao National School in 1941, and took on further renaming after the war in 1946. The school celebrated its centennial around 2009 with a 'welcoming a hundred years' commemoration, and today runs an active music program, a resource classroom for special education, a health center with nurse services, and digital learning tools including Google Classroom. Several other schools in the township, including Zhongliao and Zhuyuan elementary schools, began life as its branches.

鹿草國小創立於明治42年（1909年）4月10日的日治時期（民國前3年），初名鹿仔草公學校，是鄉內歷史最悠久的學校之一。民國10年（1921年）改稱鹿草公學校，民國30年（1941年）改為鹿草國民學校，戰後民國35年（1946年）再度更名。學校於民國98年（2009年）左右舉辦「迎百年校慶」，如今設有活躍的音樂課程、特教資源班、附護理師的健康中心，並使用Google Classroom等數位學習平台。鄉內多所學校，如重寮國小、竹園國小，皆源自本校分校。
