Longqi Junior High School was founded on August 1, 1968, opening with just two new classes (119 students), three teachers, and a campus of about 4.79 hectares — reflecting Longqi District's persistently small population. It became an officially Tainan City-run institution after the 2010 Tainan county-city merger, and as one of Taiwan's least populous districts, Longqi has long operated as a small rural junior high serving a scattered hill-country population.
龍崎國中創立於民國57年（1968年）8月1日，創校時僅設2班新生（119名學生）、3位教師，校地約4.79公頃——反映出龍崎區長期人口稀少的特性。民國99年（2010年）台南縣市合併後，正式改為台南市立學校。作為台灣人口最少的行政區之一，龍崎國中長期以來都是服務散居丘陵地帶人口的小型鄉間國中。
