A century of bamboo, badlands, and branch schools.
Longqi Elementary School was founded on April 1, 1922, as "Longqi Public School Zhongkeng Branch." Its site changed in 1929, and it became a fully independent school as "Longqi Public School" in 1932. The school runs a curriculum built around Longqi's well-preserved bamboo groves and bamboo-weaving craft tradition, offering programs in silk-and-bamboo music (絲竹樂), bamboo weaving, and picture-book illustration. Its branch campus, Longchuan, focuses on wilderness and outdoor education, drawing on the district's dramatic badlands terrain. The school sits beside Tiger-Shape Mountain (虎形山), where Longqi hosts its annual "Kong Shan Ji" (空山祭) light-art festival each winter.

A curriculum grown from bamboo and badlands.
Longqi's school curriculum is built directly around the district's two defining natural resources — its bamboo forests, the basis of the school's signature bamboo-weaving and silk-and-bamboo music programs, and its eroded badlands hill terrain, the basis of the sister campus's wilderness-education focus. See the Tainan county page for more on the region.
