Longgang Junior High was approved for establishment in 1968 and formally became Taoyuan County Longgang National Junior High School by 1969. Its school activity center was completed in June 2001, and a new front gate and guard house were added in May 2005. The school became municipal on December 25, 2014. It is located in the Longgang (龍岡) area, home to Taiwan's best-known Yunnanese and overseas-Chinese-military (滇緬義胞) resettlement community, famous for its "Rice Noodle Street" (米干街).
龍岡國中於1968年獲准設立，1969年正式定名為桃園縣立龍岡國民中學。學生活動中心於2001年6月完工，2005年5月新建校門與警衛室。2014年12月25日改制為市立學校。學校位於龍岡地區，是台灣最著名的滇緬義胞（雲南、緬甸僑民）聚落，以「米干街」的雲南美食聞名全台。
