Nearly a century old, built for a university's families.

Long'an Elementary was founded on April 1, 1929, as “Taipei Jin Common Elementary School” (臺北市錦尋常小學校) under Japanese rule, built originally to educate the Japanese children of professors at Taihoku Imperial University — the direct predecessor institution of today's National Taiwan University. The school was renamed “Showa National School” in 1941, then “Long'an” after Taiwan's 1945 retrocession, taking its current name in 1968 under nine-year compulsory education. Its “Red House” (紅樓), completed in 1931 in English brick architectural style, is registered as a protected historic building and still stands on campus today.
