From agricultural school to complete high school.
Linyuan Senior High School traces its roots to 1935, when it was founded under Japanese rule as 林園庄立林園農業專修學校, an agricultural vocational school training farming talent for the coastal Linyuan area. Over the following decades it was renamed and restructured many times, moving between vocational, junior-high, and senior-high status as Taiwan's education system evolved. The school stopped enrolling senior-high students between 1968 and 1996, operating as a junior high before resuming senior-high classes. Today it operates as a complete school with its own junior-high division under one administration, and became a Kaohsiung City-run school after the 2010 county-city merger.
