Profile

A convoluted history, settled in Lingya since 1980.

Lingya-Zhongzheng Elementary began in February 1947 in Gushan District as the privately run Shoushan National School, then went through multiple renamings and relocations before settling in Lingya District in 1980. Like the senior high school of the same name, it honors Chiang Kai-shek, and its winding institutional path reflects Kaohsiung's broader postwar consolidation of ad hoc schools into the stable system that exists today. This is a separate institution from Zhongzheng Senior High School and from an unrelated vocational high school of a similar name in Qianzhen District.

📜

The school's winding path — from a 1947 private school in Gushan to a 1980 relocation into Lingya District — mirrors the broader story of how postwar Kaohsiung folded scattered, ad hoc schools into today's stable public system. See the Kaohsiung county page for more on the region.
