Lingya Junior High School

Lingya Junior High began in 1957 as a branch of Kaohsiung Municipal Second Middle School, becoming an independent school and adopting its current name in 1968. The school is best known for its Dance-Talent Class, running continuously since 1981 — more than four decades of specialized dance education. It takes its name from 苓雅寮, a historic fishing-and-farming hamlet near the old Takao Harbor, tying the district's name to Kaohsiung's pre-modern origins as a fishing village.

苓雅國中創立於民國46年（1957年），初為高雄市立第二中學分部，1968年獨立設校並定名為苓雅國民中學。學校以自1981年起持續開辦的舞蹈班聞名，至今已有逾四十年的舞蹈專才教育歷史。校名源自舊打狗港附近的漁農聚落「苓雅寮」，其名稱承載著高雄作為前現代漁村的歷史根源。
