Six names across a century of change.

Linghe Elementary began in March 1933 as a branch, "漚汪公學苓子寮分教場," with 64 first-year students, and became an independent school in April 1937 as "苓子寮公學校." It was renamed repeatedly over the following decades: "苓子寮國民學校" in 1941, "將軍鄉第三國民學校" in 1945 following Taiwan's retrocession, "臺南縣將軍鄉苓子寮國民學校" in 1947, "臺南縣將軍鄉苓和國民學校" in 1953, "苓和國民小學" in 1968, and finally "臺南市將軍區苓和國民小學" in 2010 after the county-city merger. It remains a small rural school serving Lingzailiao village.

Local Culture ·

A record of Jiangjun's 20th-century upheavals.

Linghe's unusually long chain of renamings — from a colonial-era "公學校" branch through a post-retrocession "township No. 3 school" to its current name — traces the same administrative upheavals that reshaped Jiangjun's small fishing and farming hamlets across the 20th century, in a district still tied to its founding legend of the Qing admiral Shi Lang. See the Tainan city page for more on the region.
